Soundscape #134: Postcards From Italy

September 11th, 2009

Europe in summer is hell. The entire continent is good at keeping itself warm during the winter but come summer and Europe comes apart at the seams. Most “aircons” are but reverse “heaters” and they blow hot air into the room. Coming from a “aircon nation”, I may seem a little spoilt but hey, at least we don’t have people fainting in droves when the heat wave hits.

Europe in August is also hell. Nothing much is open and those who are exploit the opportunity to charge exorbitant prices. The city looks deserted which might have a romantic feel to it, if only it’s not so bloody hot. There’s nothing much to do, not in Milan at least, except to shop. And shop I did. It’s the only thing I can do!
