Soundscape #133: “Fortune Brings in Some Boats That Are Not Steered”— William Shakespeare

August 21st, 2009

That Lady Luck is a capricious bitch we all know. But if you look around at what’s happening around the world, she’s apparently cold-hearted as well. Otherwise what can explain the massive natural disasters, plagues or pandemics? Some might say that we’ve probably deserved it, since we are no angels ourselves. If we are not busy destroying the planet, we are waging war on one another.

But there is still plenty to be thankful for. It’s easy to take basic amenities for granted when it’s an everyday occurrence. Potable water is one thing; easy access to food is another. We all have a roof over our heads and that’s something to be grateful for. We probably don’t need a lot to survive but we all want to do more than survive, do we not? We want to thrive, in our professional, private lives.
