Soundscape #122: “All Human Evil Comes From A Single Cause, Man’s Inability To Sit Still In A Room.”
February 27th, 2009It may be a little naive to think that if we all lock ourselves in a room, we wouldn’t be able to go around causing harm and hurt. But I certainly agree that if we were to think, even if it were for just a second or two, what it is we are doing, it would yield a world of good. Think about it. All the impulses we have, the yearnings, the mad dashes, the oh-fuck-I’m-late-”this”-will-have-to-do moments we all have in our lives.

Think about it. When we rush around like a chicken with its head cut off, we don’t really think too deeply, if at all, to be honest. When we see something we want, instead of asking ourselves why does this appeal to me?, we think about whether we can afford it. If so, great! If not, we obsess and obsess about it. Somehow not being to afford it made the item even more appealing to us. We all want what we cannot have, don’t we? But if we don’t stand still for a moment and think about why it is that we want a particular thing, nothing in the world will ever satisfy us for very long.
