Soundscape #121: “What You Call Love Was Invented By Guys Like Me To Sell Nylons” – Mad Men
February 13th, 2009Ah, romance is in the air again. I’m not exactly a hopeless romantic, not when you think about how much romantic love is fraught with obstacles and whether it’s really worth it just to populate the planet.

Yann G. Un Baiser, 2006.
Remember all the plotting, lying and cheating, the patronising and condescending remarks, the manipulating and the passive/aggressiveness, the guessing and second-guessing, the taking/being taken for granted? Seriously, what the hell have we become? Do you even recognise yourself?
I think that love is more a reward system, to trick you into perpetuating the species. The notion of romantic love is one of the biggest lie ever; the idea that there can only be one person for you out there is fundamentally illogical. How, in fuck’s name, are you supposed to look for that One True Love™ in a world of 6 billion? Don’t you need to eat, sleep or work?
