Soundscape #112: “You Have To Live The Way You Think” – Paul Bourget

December 12th, 2008

I’d think that it’s a pretty obvious principle but sometimes it’s not that simple. You may think one thing but life would show you quite another route. When we have to stop and reassess our lives in light of new information, how much do you let it affect your life? It’s of cos easier for some than others. Some people have fixed ideas about how one should live. Religion helps a lot when you think about it this way.

But it’s less objective for others. I don’t subscribe to any moral compass but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have any. Sometimes figuring out the way you think sheds light on areas you took for granted. My basic framework is for one to do whatever makes one happy as long as you don’t hurt anyone in the process (particularly yourself) but it’s easier said than done. I guess life can be as difficult as you want it to be.
