Soundscape #104: “EX-TER-MIN-ATE!!”

October 10th, 2008

I got into the whole Doctor Who thing pretty late, starting with the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) but I am pretty obsessed with the series now. I’m sure the current Doctor (David Tennant) has alot to do with that.

I’m never really a fan of science fiction actually. I can tell the difference between Klingons and Vulcans and I certainly know the answer to the world but most sci-fi stories out there seem to take themselves too seriously. With the possible exception of Douglas Adams (pardon me if I’m wrong; I’ve already said that I don’t know much about the genre), Doctor Who seems to be lighter and more fun. Of course, as with all science fiction and time travel in particular, you’d run into all sorts of predestination problems (like the grandfather paradox for example) but when you have sonic screwdrivers, the TARDIS and of course, the Daleks, who the hell cares!?
