Soundscape #79: “We Become Aware Of The Void As We Fill It” — Antonio Porchia
March 21st, 2008As kids we were taught to explore the world around us, check out the trees, the grass, the places, the people, everything. There’s this blank slate that we fill with the people we meet, the places we’ve been, the experiences we’ve had. After a while, it’s inevitable that this blank canvass runs out of space for us to add new things, like a glass that’s overflowing with water.

But sometimes, we don’t know what we’ve been missing until we get a taste of it. How would you know? We all want what we cannot have, like Morrissey says, no? It’s the after-getting-what-we-want that intrigues me. No doubt some of us get sick of it eventually, but sometimes, it just happens that the thirst grows and you can’t help but feel that you will never get tired of something. And I’m not talking about an addiction here, guys. It’s rare, and I haven’t had that before, but it does exist, right?
