Soundscape #70: “It’s All In The Stars”
January 18th, 2008People are always saying that life usually becomes clearer and more settled when we get older. We’ll get jobs, settle down and have kids. That’s your life right there, no? While the general idea seems clear enough, it’s the specifics, the how-to that stumps most people. I see where I’m supposed to go but I won’t necessarily know how to get there. Sometimes days pass without my knowledge and I’m sure most people have days like these.

But when these days start to flow into weeks, sometimes it’s easier to consult a higher power for guidance and advice. I’m talking about horoscopes of course. It’s great that just by checking them regularly, you’ll be able to find out what your life will be like and what you have to do — or avoid — in order to make it even better. There are lucky numbers and colours and they even advise you what kind of people you would best be friends with and who might be your mortal enemies.
Of course horoscopes and astrology in general, is fucking bull. Most of it doesn’t apply to you or even if it does, it’s so general that it could be a cartload of shit that you have to sieve through anyways. But the other day, I came across a 2008 chinese horoscope and I got sucked in it for a while and even got scared a little when it tells me that Horses will have the absolute worst year among the entire chinese zodiac. I panicked as I imagine how I will suffer for the entire year. I bought everything. And I’m sure I can’t be the only one… right?
It’s actually quite funny, though pathetic, to see how desperate people sometimes get just to figure out their lives.
