Soundscape #64: “A Thought Is An Idea In Transit” — Pythagoras

With the “globalisation” of the world, spaces and places are opening up to us at an ever increasing speed. These spaces and places are often virtual, taking place online and connecting people from all over the world. Suddenly time zones are no longer as important as more and more people communicate through emails and so on.

There is a more concrete, physical kind of space/place too as the world opens up. As the ease of getting from one remote place to another increases, we find ourselves in between spaces/places. These are merely linkages between Point A to Point B and have no other character/function. They can be transit lounges in airports or a bench on a train platform or even in the lift as you go for yet another meeting.

It’s a weird feeling being in a space defined only by other spaces. I often find myself thinking more when I’m in between spaces/places. Because I have just left Point A and going to Point B, I think about what I’ve left behind and what I’m going towards and everything in between. Pitting them against one another, I find that the things I have to do (Point B) and the shit I forgot to do (Point A) often obliterate the stuff I want to do (at some point).
