The idea of a fickle, petty, mean-spirited god seems almost blasphemous to a lot of people these days. But if you really think about it, what’s so wrong about it? God’s actions are unpredictable at best and downright random at worst. But this is how we are kept on our toes all this time! Do you realise? Imagine if we know where we stand on the bell curve of everything or the number of brownie points earned if we do X, what would be the point?

All our lives we strive towards one word: happiness. We seek it through different ways of course, whether it be money, spirituality, family, love, whatever. We think that if our intentions are good, then god would help us be happy. But has anyone thought about what we do after we get what we want? Do we get even happier now that we are happy? Do we remain happy? What happens? Chances are, as human beings, it’s hard for us to be content or satisfied with our lot. We want one thing, we work towards it, we get it, we want something else. The fulfillment of one need seems to also open up the desire for another. I suspect that the situation comes about because we don’t know what to do with ourselves. The pursuit of X has become such a part of our lives that sometimes X itself no longer matters. It’s the pursuit that takes over, no?
